Property And Environmental Cleaning Tax

Property and Environmental Cleaning Tax

Taxpayers and the amount they have to pay vary depending on the type and value of the immovable property owned.

All real estate owners within the borders of Turkey are responsible for real estate tax payments. Except for the isolated cases specified in the law, payment must be made for all properties owned.

Owners of shareholder ownership are taxpayers in proportion to their shares. In cooperative ownership, the owners are severally responsible for the tax.

Housewives, veterans, retirees, unemployed, widows and orphans of the martyrs are exempt from real estate tax payments as long as they only own one single property. It is necessary to apply to the district municipality for exemption.

The taxpayers of this tax, which is an environmental and cleaning tax and known as the garbage tax among the people, are the users of residents and businesses. If there is a tenant in the real estate, the taxpayer becomes the tenant.

On the other hand, garbage tax payments are not made for vacant and unused workplaces and homes. It is also necessary to apply to the municipality for the exemption of the workplaces. Since the tax debt of the houses is added to the water bill, the tax is not deducted if the subscription is closed. If the invoice is paid, the tax debt is also paid.
